BlastPoint co-founders Alison Alvarez, CEO, and Tomer Borenstein, CTO, share their insights on EV charging for Energy Central’s popular 2020 Predictions and Trends Series.
Geographic data and consumer behavior research show that EV buyers, manufacturers, public utilities, OEMs, policy makers and commercial business owners are making tactical progress toward electrifying the United States’ transportation infrastructure.
To explore this trend and others in the EV charging landscape, the good folks at Energy Central reached out to ask our leadership team what they expect to see unfold over the next year.
Naturally, BlastPoint co-founders Alison Alvarez, CEO, and Tomer Borenstein, CTO, were thrilled for the opportunity to contribute their insights.
BlastPoint’s article, 5 EV Charging Trends We Hope To See Flourish Throughout 2020, was published exclusively for Energy Central’s popular 2020 Trends & Predictions Series. Featured in the Energy Collective group, Alvarez and Borenstein lay out five of the charging trends they’re beginning to see, and that they hope to see more of in the coming year.
From more EV charging in rural areas to more municipal governments leading advancements in sustainable development, the story covers a wide scope, calling on new players to join in the electrification of our transportation infrastructure and for existing players to expand their roles.
Spoiler alert: BlastPoint’s research indicates that more strategic partnerships will materialize between and among charging station manufacturers, utility companies and commercial businesses acting as charging hosts. Conversely, while indeed we hope to see more EV infrastructure investment in low-income communities, we’re concerned that access to charging in historically-overlooked neighborhoods will be slower to materialize and more difficult to implement.
As a whole, these trends reveal market opportunities for new players to enter the EV landscape. Will they go down in history as being missed opportunities or ones that were seized upon? Time will tell!
What are your trends and predictions for 2020? What are you seeing in the EV charging landscape in your neck of the woods? We’d love to hear from you!
